Featured SEEDs Story

sm phxMy name is Megan Miles.

On Nov. 7th 2008, I came to SEEDs after completing a 30 day inpatient treatment center at Chandler Valley Hope.  I had a very good experience with the program.

Although it was not my ideal living situation, it is exactly what I needed to get back on my feet.

While in the SEEDs program, I attended four AA/ CA meetings a week, participated in the weekly recovery group and weekly house meeting.  Once a week I also met with the advocate that they provide.  She helped me set up goals while I was living in the house.  She also helped in other areas of my life.  We worked on issues that I had with myself esteem, domestic violence, and substance abuse. For the first couple of weeks that I was living there, I was unable to find a job.  But once I found one, I worked my butt off, and soon was working two part time jobs.  I built many strong relationships with the other women while living there.

It is amazing what an enjoyable time I had while living in a half way house.  It is an experience that saved my life.  Not only was I able to focus on my recovery, I was able to work on other issues in my life that I had struggled with for so long.  I am glad that I was able to go through SEEDs.  There were many houses that I could've chosen; however, I think that this one is the best.  I left the SEEDs program in the beginning of March. I still go back once a week on Sundays for group.  I also meet with my advocate whenever I can.  This program has impacted my life in a very positive way.  This program has opened my eyes to many opportunities and I am very grateful.
